Better Nature, the pioneering brand for gut-friendly, plant-based protein, is riding a wave of growth, expanding its product range in Tesco and securing two prestigious industry awards.

Last month, Better Nature introduced its Smoky Tempeh into Tesco, marking a major milestone as one of the UK’s fastest-growing meat-free brands. The brand now accounts for 68% of the UK’s tempeh category sales growth. In addition to this expansion, the brand received top honours at The Nourish Awards 2024, the UK’s leading health food awards that set the benchmark for the most innovative and nutritious products on the market. Better Nature’s Organic Tempeh was awarded 3 stars, while its Mediterranean Tempeh Pieces earned 2 stars.

Adding to the momentum, Better Nature was named one of the top 30 companies in the BE100 by Blue Earth Summit, a list of 100 pioneering businesses that are driving systemic change within their industries. The brand stood out among over 1,000 European companies, securing its place in the top 30 for its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Elin Roberts, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Better Nature says: “At Better Nature, our mission is to get the world eating supercharged protein: all-natural, nutritious and great for the gut.

“Over the past few months, we’ve seen rapid growth of our tempeh range as people turn away from ultra-processed foods in search of healthier, gut-friendly wholefood proteins. Better Nature is now stocked nationwide in Tesco, Asda and Ocado (plus regular WIGIGs with Lidl), as well as Whole Foods Market and Planet Organic in London.

“What people love about tempeh is not only that it’s supercharged with gut health benefits and is naturally packed with protein (a 100g serving of our tempeh has more protein than two eggs!) but it’s also incredibly versatile and super easy to cook with.

“It’s planet-friendly too. As a certified B Corp™, our tempeh has a low carbon footprint (verified by My Emissions’ farm-to-fork analysis) and is made using sustainably grown, non-GMO soya beans.

“As a business, we’re leading the charge for nutritious, sustainable food that’s good for both people and the planet, and we’re proud to be recognised for this.”
